Obama supports disrespect to the American Flag - his words, not mine

Yes, he told us in advance what he planned to do. Few were listening.

The following is a narrative taken from a 2008 Sunday morning televised "Meet The Press."

From Sunday's 07 Sept. 2008, 11:48:04 EST, Televised "Meet the Press" THE THEN Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag.

General Bill Ginn, USAF (ret.), asked Obama to explain WHY he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

The General stated to Obama that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171...

During rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention, facing the flag, with the right hand over the heart. Or, at the very least, "Stand and Face It".

NOW GET THIS !!

'Senator'Obama replied:

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides...." "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression...." "The anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air, and all that sort of thing."

(ARE YOU READY FOR THIS???)

Obama continued:, "The National Anthem should be 'swapped' for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it. In my opinion, we should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as 'redesign' our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we, as a Nation of waring people, conduct ourselves like the nations of Islam, where peace prevails - - - perhaps a state or period of mutual accord could exist between our governments ....."

"When I become President, I will seek a pact of agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts . We as a Nation, have placed upon the nations of Islam, an unfair injustice, which is WHY my wife disrespects the Flag, and she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past."

"Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put my hatred aside. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First black Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America."

Why not give the Taliban the bomb

The president has apparently found a way to finally close Gitmo – three years past the promised closing date. The president’s plan – send the most dangerous detainees back to Afghanistan as a means of wooing the Taliban. Presumably, the Taliban would then behave long enough to allow the president to pull our troops out prior to November 2012 (yes, there is a significant event anticipated that month).

While many may complain that this goes too far – way, way too far – I’d like to suggest it doesn’t go far enough. As long as we are to adopt a suicidal foreign policy where we reward our enemies for being our enemies (yes, Little Bo VP, they are our enemies), we should endeavor to make the pain as short and merciful as possible. I, therefore, recommend the following:

Send the terrorists back to Afghanistan with boatloads of our latest military hardware. In fact, why don’t we provide them with some nuclear warheads? Just think, we can all stop worrying about whether Iran has the bomb; it won’t matter anymore.

And after we’ve armed those terrorists to the teeth, we can complete the deal by painting targets in all our major metropolitan areas and then, with new regulations written into one of hundreds of blank pages of Obamacare, we can require everyone to gather around the targets to receive their nuclear inoculations.

Yes, this does sound drastic. But, as the course of a slow death we initiated as voters in 2008 is more than any truly patriotic Americans can bear to witness, and since the outcome, in the end, will be the same, why drag it out any longer than necessary.

Hey, Wall Street Occupiers – there's enough blame to go around

I know a lot of people who are facing serious financial trials and tribulations that would make teeth grind in the most pacifistic Wall Street Occupier. And that would include my own current economic status. Times are tough and I’m hardly immune from that situation.

So, who should I blame for my fiscal plight? Folks in Wall Street are easy and, in some cases, deserving targets. I could easily argue that members of Congress, from both sides of the aisle, share sizable portions of blame. The last president didn’t do enough to keep us out of this fiscal mess and the current president seems to think we’ll get out of this hole by resolutely putting our backsides to digging deeper. I could even join with that more radical element of the Wall Street Occupiers, and Michael Moore, who believe that capitalism is the evil culprit with the lion’s share of guilt.

While portions of blame can appropriately be affixed to any of the targets above, there’s another group that is also culpable in this situation, and I’m a member of that group. I believe we all are.

As I see it, with benevolent motives, a desire to curry favor with the voters or, more likely, a mixture of both, members of Congress passed the 1992 Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and charged Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with fulfilling a mission of promoting government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) that fit with an “affordable housing mission.”

That and the dot.com revolution created a volatile economic mix. The economy burned brightly for most of a decade. After sputtering a little around the end of the millennium, it re-ignited, to some degree, and burned for several more years. But, a flame like that has a tendency to consume fuel on a rapid basis.

With an influx of thousands of additional buyers, we found ourselves with an explosive seller’s homebuyers market. If one buyer wasn’t willing to pay the asking price the next one surely would. Prices climbed precipitously.

Nudged on at first, bankers, realtors, mortgage brokers and others in the financial industries quickly recognized an opportunity to make some big bucks. They jumped in with both feet and were soon offering loans at 125-percent of the appraised value of the home. I had mortgage brokers, more than one that is, tell me, “You don’t have to worry about it. The value of homes will always go up.”

In the ‘90s, we did all the things our parents and grandparents warned us against: we borrowed like drunken sailors. Mortgage brokers didn’t even blink when they saw that monthly mortgage payments would run to 60 percent or more of the buyer’s monthly income – “Don’t worry, after a couple of increases to your wages that figure will drop.”

Then they encouraged people to wrap their credit card and other debts into the new mortgage. I did it myself. Why wouldn’t I?

I started with $1,300 in monthly payments and, after refinancing, I owed $920 and, this way, I was able to write my credit card debt off against my taxes. As I was hardly alone in this strategy, the net result is that a sizeable portion of individual debt was buried in home values, home values artificially inflated by providing mortgages to people whether they could afford to pay back the loans or not (do you remember the No-Doc Loans – no need to prove ability to repay).

Keep in mind, no one pointed a gun at my head and forced me to sign the new mortgage. I even recall sitting at the kitchen table and telling a friend, “This is crazy. Someday, we’re going to have to pay for this.” But, it would have been even crazier, or so it seemed, to turn down the opportunity to lower my monthly expenditures. Of course, I filled that gap, not as quickly as others, with new debt. It was a happy cycle of borrow and refinance, borrow and refinance.

I’m no financial wizard but I understood certain simple laws of economics that are as true as the laws of physics. I knew that what goes up tends to come down and the higher it goes the farther it has to fall.

The financial crisis we face today was brewing long before most of us noticed or cared to look. It came home for me with the chilling effect of an iceberg dropped on my head about 1997. I was listening to the radio and some economist was speaking about how, with Alan Greenspan at the helm, we’d finally figured out this whole economy thing and that, from now on, we won’t experience the economic downturns that have plagued society since the dawn of trade, barter and currency.

Like I said, I’m no economic guru but that scared the bajeebas out of me. Not only didn’t I believe it but, the mere fact that someone of supposed expertise in creating economic forecasts would utter such words was sobering in the extreme.

So, maybe most of the Occupiers on Wall Street are too young to really share the blame for our current situation. Still, most, if not all, enjoyed the benefits of a hyper-active economy for many years (where do you think that X-Box 360 and the big-screen television came from?).

The question is, what do we do now. If, in the face of this crisis, we choose to follow the radicals who want us to abandon the free market in favor of socialism, we’ll receive everything we deserve – perpetual economic malaise. Worse yet, we will have abandoned the principles of upward mobility, hope for a better life and personal liberties (yes, personal liberties – whoever holds the purse strings gets to name the tune we dance to).

It’s easy to panic when things get rough. Those, however, who keep their heads almost always finish on top. For many, having some kind of faith helps to carry them through it all in one piece.

I’ve seen the best the government can do. Socialism is putting all my faith in that basket. As for me, I’d rather reaffirm the principles of hard work and frugality than to depend on the government. And, I certainly won’t put my faith in someone who so readily points out a target to blame.

Temporary Joe? As in the opposite of your insanity?

Joe Biden, unfortunately for U.S., the vice president, crossed the line of decency – again. “Speaking to Philadelphia police officers Tuesday at the University of Pennsylvania, Biden slammed Republican critics who say the jobs bill is just “temporary,” underscoring measures aimed at maintaining police force levels.” (from the story in FOXNews.com: Biden Evokes Sexual, Violent Imagery Again in Push for $447 (billion) Jobs Bill).

In an angry tone, while waving an angry finger, Biden emphatically claimed: “… it’s not temporary when that 9-1-1 call comes in and a woman’s being raped … It’s not temporary to the guy whose store is being held up and has a gun being pointed to his head … That’s not temporary to that store owner. Give me a break – temporary.”

Biden went on to wish “these guys who thought it was temporary … had a notion what it’s like be(ing) on the other side of a gun or a 200-pound man standing over you telling you to submit.”

The speech, according to FOXNews, was a reiteration of a speech the previous Wednesday in Flint, Mich., where Biden claimed rapes and murders will increase if the jobs bill fails to pass Congress.

Biden is hoping that, like frightened pups running to mother for cover, those seeing themselves as likely rape and murder victims will rush to the phone and call their representatives adamantly demanding action on the jobs bill. Biden is hoping to scare the bajeebas out of folks so they’ll demand the passage of the president’s jobs bill. But, in reality, Biden is hoping to cast conservative representatives as uncaring and insensitive about rape and murder, as if the jobs bill and those violent acts really have any connection.

The only real question is whether Biden’s insanity is temporary. Of course, in Biden’s case, that’s assuming temporary is a period lasting no less than the stretch of time that begins with Joe’s first words out of the cradle and his last words when anyone cares – before November of 2012. Hopefully, temporary is also how we can look upon Joe and Barack’s time left in office.

Yea, though I walk in the shadow of Economic collapse,

Poynter Institute should get the point - the First Amendment is not free

During WWII, there were instances when the media took a cue from the government and withheld information that might have harmed the war effort. Then again, there was always Charles McCormick whose newspaper published a story exposing that the U.S. had ambushed the Imperial Japanese Navy at Midway with the help of code breakers who had broken the Japanese code so that we knew in advance that the Japanese were coming. Though it is questionable the Japanese ever read his publication, he still potentially disclosed a vital military secret.

Some in the world of journalism would applaud McCormick’s decision and look harshly upon those who supported the war effort. Of course, some might say those people have neglected to notice that the American soldiers and sailors putting their lives on the line are in the process of defending the First Amendment – the only amendment members of the media seem to universally support.

Now, with ultra-liberals in control of the Fourth Estate, the Poynter Institute is apparently teaching journalists and journalists in training to “take a note that Jihad is not a leading cause of death.”

Is this the result of the military asking for their cooperation? Has Obama reached out to them and begged that, in the national interest, they spin related stories a particular way? No, it appears this is merely the result of continued efforts on the part of the media to slide the country to the Left.

For those of you without journalistic experience, you may not be as familiar with the Poynter Institute. Among journalists in this country it is considered the virtual Mecca for the promotion of the industry. This isn’t some wacked-out, drug-addled professor in PoHunk, Idaho. This is the virtual foundation of the world of journalism. And they’re teaching journalists to skip the truth and take sides.

There is no excuse for such behavior. The only thing that amazes me is that, and I’m quite sure this is true, the same individuals promoting such non-ethical journalistic treatment of such stories would proudly proclaim themselves leaders in the field.

What does this mean? It means that the world of American journalism has gone beyond the point of no return. There is no hope for the profession as long as people such as this continue to hold such biased sway among their peers and aspiring journalists.

Some journalists have a knack with prose that virtually takes the breath away. They can conjure up emotions from thin air. That’s a wonderful ability when they’re fighting for a noble cause but, even then, it’s not journalism, not as I know it.

Journalists play a vital role in our society, and that is role all-too neglected these days. We need true journalists, those who haven’t allowed the pie-in-the-sky notions of ultra-liberal educators to take control of those electrical impulses in their craniums otherwise known as thoughts. We need journalists who are not so full of a narcissistic sense of liberal self importance that they can’t tell the difference between a terrorist and someone putting his life on the line to protect journalism’s favorite amendment.

Timely reminder to give AARP the boot

Well, I think I’m due to post a reminder about AARP. The non-profit and self-proclaimed advocate organization for the aged has proven itself far less reliable in terms of standing up for the best interests of ‘retired’ folk. If you’ve forgotten, AARP jumped in on behalf of Obamacare when the organization was promised a means of increasing profits through “the sale of Medicare products to older Americans.”

A story in RedState claims that AARP will make $1 billion over the course of the next 10 years thanks to Obamacare. Keep in mind that this is a non-profit organization with profits of $427 million in 2009. Hence, not only does it make sense to me that older Americans should drop AARP like a toxic potato, but it seems someone should reconsider the organization’s non-profit status.

I can understand the twinkle in the eyes of AARP execs when they started crunching the numbers based on the passage of Obamacare. That’s a whole lotta money by almost anyone’s standards, save the United States government, which doesn’t seem to think it’s worked up a sweat unless debt is accumulated in bunches of trillions.

I like the idea of a senior organization that actually advocates for the people it purports to represent. Amac, “The Conservative Alternative to AARP,” appears to be one such organization.

Regardless of the size of a temptation, a sellout is a sellout and, as far as I’m concerned, seniors were soldout by AARP. In the process, AARP helped to shove a clearly unconstitutional law down the throats of the American people. And, please don’t come back later, should the Supreme Court be so unwise as to approve the constitutionality of Obamacare – I have a basic understanding of the difference between right and wrong and Obamacare is clearly the latter.

Obamacare might be fine for people willing to turn their will, lives and free choice over to their government, but it’s not right for America. And AARP isn’t right, either.

Is Pakistan giving the U.S. the Chicago shakedown?

Amid U.S. accusations that the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence agency supported Haqqani Network terrorists attacks in Afghanistan, including the recent attack on the U.S. Embassy in that country, not to mention possible ISI complicity in hosting Osama Bin Laden for 10 years, the Taliban has weighed in on the matter protesting that they have no connection to the ISI. Now, there's a reliable source if I ever heard one.

Actually, considering the Taliban usually and proudly proclaims its guilt when men, women and children are blown to bits by suicide bombers, it requires a little contemplation when they suddenly and adamantly profess their innocence.

The Taliban claims guilt when bombers detonate because it fits their goal of spreading terrorism. What is their objective when they claim innocence from accusations of a connection to the Pakistani intelligence service? Are they merely driven by a desire to uphold the truth? Do they have a sense of sympathy for the ISI and Pakistan and a desire to deflect any false blame aimed in that direction? NO!

If the Taliban defends the ISI and Pakistan it can only suggest one thing - the accusations are spot on. It can only mean that the Taliban is seeking to defend a vital resource it depends on in its war of terror.

I can't find it now, but I saw a headline, that said something to the effect of Pakistan reaffirming its commitment to defend China from terrorism. Now, there's a statement I can believe. Not only does the rocky relationship between the U.S. and Pakistan make a positive relationship with China more valuable for Pakistan, but Pakistan, it would seem, has an in with the terrorists.

In Mob-speak, here in Chicago, this would be called a 'shakedown.' You send a couple thugs in to rough up a store owner. Then, you follow that up with a 'sincere' visit where, for a price, you'll provide protection. In the case of Pakistan, it's a $5-billion-a-year shakedown. Problem is, someone should notice that the U.S. is not a defenseless sniveling shopkeeper. Or, at least, we shouldn't be.

Blogger lost 1776 Patriot blog - politics?

OK, Blogger, which is a blog site affiliated with Google, which, some might say, has a liberal perspective on the world or, at the very least, has been suggested as supporting elected officials with liberal persuasions, has revised its Blogger pages. This is an improvement, right? Not so fast.

In the process of revising their site, they appear to have lost my blog. I can no longer post to 1776Patriot. It's gone. It's not in my account. It's not on my dashboard.

It's probably an innocent mistake. However, a while before they lost my blog, they disconnected it from the pay section. That occurred after I twice applied to coordinate payment from clicks on the ads on my blog pages. Blogger was supposed to reply to my application for payment with a card that would arrive the old-fashioned way - through the US Postal Service. The cards never arrived and I never collected any of the funds I was supposed to collect before or since they shut that option off from my blog.

I tried to rebuild my site using the same name - Rich1776Patriot - but Blogger informed me that name is taken. You bet it's taken. It's taken by me but I can't access the site.

Now, it's a little bit conspiratorial minded of me to assume this situation is the result of a liberal-focused attack on a relatively inconsequential site that was filled with posts of a constitutionally conservative nature. But, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

You might say, "Quit your whining. You've got a new site now." However, as someone who understands just a little bit about Search Engine Optimization, I realize that the loss of my old site sets me back to the starting gate as far as building visibility. Still, as I said, I don't imagine my ramblings to be of such great significance to justify such a diabolical plot. Then again, if I'm not the only one to face this dilemma, well ...

So, I ask, if you had a conservative blog on Blogger, did you lose your blog after this latest Blogger 'upgrade?'
